Grade Seven pupil attacked with a panga for ‘stealing’ honey

In Tente village, Nyamira County, a grade seven pupil named Kamau is recovering from serious wounds.

A neighbor, Peterson Myakundi, allegedly attacked him with a panga for stealing honey from a beehive.

Kamau, a student at Tente Primary School, had taken honey from Myakundi’s brother’s beehive.

Enraged, Myakundi beat Kamau and cut him with a panga. Kamau returned home with deep cuts on his hands and back, shocking his stepmother, Melen Kemunto.

Melen quickly took Kamau to Nyamira Referral Hospital for treatment. The family has reported the attack to the police, seeking legal action against Myakundi.

The usually peaceful village of Tente is now filled with concern and hope for justice for Kamau.
