Why Deputy Governor Eng John Barorot resigned

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot has officially resigned from his position. He made this announcement during a meeting at the Eka Hotel in Eldoret, with Governor Jonathan Bii present.

Barorot’s resignation comes just a days after he downplayed rumors about his departure from office.

These rumors gained momentum after Barorot was gave an event that was attended by President William Ruto a wide berth; the event was celebrating conferment of Eldoret as a city.

According to a report by a Kenyan paper, the Star Newspaper earlier, Barorot dismissed the resignation rumors as baseless but did not provide an explanation for his absence from the significant event.

There had been ongoing speculation regarding his working relationship with Governor Bii. However, two weeks ago at a prayer meeting held at the county headquarters, Governor Bii had mentioned that Barorot was on leave.

Barorot had been notably absent from most of the preparations for Eldoret’s elevation to city status, though he did attend one event where he commended the media’s role in promoting the new city.

The working relationship between Deputy governors and their bosses have an issue, in Siaya Dr William Oduol fell out with his boss while in the neighboring Homa Bay County, credible reports indicate that Governor Gladys Wanga and her deputy Oyugi Magwanga are not in congruence.
