Woman sustains bullet wound in a political altercation in Migori

A woman sustained a bullet injury, while two police officers and a local MCA are also receiving treatment after an altercation yesterday in Migori. The MCA from Macalder Kanyarwanda, Felix Okwanyo, sustained injuries to his head and limbs.

Mr. Okwanyo claims that he was attacked by heavily armed goons who stormed his mining site at Copperfield in Nyatike.

“I was about to get into my car when heavily armed men pounced on me. They beat me up seriously. All I can remember is hearing some women shouting. The next thing I knew, I woke up in the hospital,” said Mr. Okwanyo, who is currently recuperating at LifeCare.

He added, “I don’t know why someone would want to end my life when I have nothing against them.”

According to a senior medical officer at LifeCare, the patients admitted with various degrees of injuries are in stable condition.

“We received them last evening and immediately began treatment. I can authoritatively say they are out of danger, and the treatment is ongoing,” said the officer.

Amidst the political noise, a section of MCAs are pointing accusing finger towards Migori Governor Ochilo Ayako as the mastermind of conflict.

“We want the Ministry of Interior, CS Kithure Kindiki, and PS Raymond Omolo to act swiftly,” said North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba.
