Shock as a woman takes life after losing Sh60k on Aviator

Shinyalu: A family in Shinyalu, Kakamega County, is mourning the loss of Anne Njeri, a 42-year-old businesswoman who took her own life under mysterious circumstances.

Anne, who operated a shop in Shinyalu Market, reportedly lost a substantial sum of money—Sh60,000—while playing the popular online game “Aviator.”

Rebecca Ihaji, a fellow businesswoman in the market, observed that Anne appeared deeply troubled the day before her death, often staring intently at her phone.

“This game Aviator is the source of all these. She was in deep thought yesterday before she eventually took her own life,” Ms. Ihaji said, speculating that Anne might have lost over Sh60,000 in the game.

Mary Anyole, another businesswoman in the market, noted that Anne seemed outwardly fine and did not show any signs of distress.

“She did not show us that she might resort to taking her own life. We were talking with her for long—all we talked about was business,” Anyole recalled.

It is suspected that Anne might have gambled with money intended for business, which her husband occasionally provided.

Kambiri Chief Caleb Natiri urged the public to seek help and refrain from taking such drastic actions when faced with life’s challenges.
