Siaya County headquarters has no electricity after Kenya Power disconnected

Operations at the Siaya County government headquarters have come to a halt after Kenya Power disconnected electricity due to unpaid bills totaling Sh18 million.

The disconnection, which occurred last week, has severely impacted the functioning of various departments within the headquarters.

Since the power outage, staff have relied on a standby generator, but it also developed mechanical problems on Monday.

The unpaid bills have accumulated over several months and include charges for both streetlights and office use.

Departments experiencing significant disruptions include ICT, the executive offices of the governor and deputy governor, and the communications department, leading to a paralysis of services at the county headquarters.
