“I was a lonely President,” President Ruto remarks as new DP Kindiki takes over

President William Ruto today admitted for the first time that he has been running the country without the support of his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking after the swearing-in of the new Deputy President, Professor Kithure Kindiki, Dr. Ruto expressed his confidence in the former Interior Cabinet Secretary, highlighting his qualifications.

“My dear Kindiki, I need your voice and intellect to speak to the things that we are doing. I have become almost a lonely voice, especially in the presidency. I know you will do all that I have missed in the last two years. We have huge programmes in the government, and we need your voice and those of us in the executive to achieve what we wrote in our constitution,” said President Ruto.

He emphasized the importance of serving the people of Kenya in accordance with the constitution.

“We serve at the pleasure of the people of Kenya and under the provision of the constitution. None of us is greater than what the constitution requires,” the president stated.

President Ruto also commended the Ministry of Education for its progress since his administration took over.

“We have made strides as a country; we have changed and transformed our education system. We have more teachers, and we have a new funding model to ensure no child is left behind,” he noted.

Additionally, the president praised the Ministry of Energy for the significant profit achieved by Kenya Power, citing the leadership’s role in the transformation.

“The Ministry of Energy is doing a fantastic job. We have seen transformation in Kenya Power, with a profit of Sh41 billion before tax. We have a huge project for rural electrification which I really need your input on,” he said.

In closing, President Ruto emphasized the need for continued support in implementing the government’s manifesto.

“Our manifesto is very elaborate. We have to amend it and work from chapter to chapter. I need your support,” he concluded.
