Police arrest “queen of mchele gang” in Kilimani

Nairobi: Detectives in Kilimani, Nairobi, have arrested Consolata Nyangai who is suspected to be notorious for drugging revellers in various drinking joints across Nairobi.

Her arrest followed a report filed by a Chadian national at Kilimani Police Station. The victim reported that Consolata stole his belongings after a night out at Gemini and Quivers clubs.

The victim, in his November 9 report, claimed that he and Consolata went to his residence at Spring Gardens Apartments after drinking.

The next morning, he was left stupefied, and his valuables were gone. Consolata allegedly stole USD 4,000, Kshs 10,000, a Samsung S20, and a Corn C105 phone.

Detectives conducted a forensic-led investigation. They found Consolata at her hideout in Hunters area within Kasarani sub-county.

The stolen phones were recovered and positively identified by the complainant.

Around Consolata’s base, detectives also found a newly purchased 75″ Samsung TV worth Ksh 107,000 and a Ramtons cooker worth Ksh 55,000.

These items, purchased after the incident, are believed to be proceeds of crime.

Further investigation revealed two national identity cards. One was Kenyan, and the other Ugandan, both with different names but the same photograph of Consolata.

This raises questions about her true identity, which is still under investigation.

Consolata is in custody at Kilimani Police Station. She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, November 18, 2024.
