KAMA Drama; How eight prisoners escaped from prison in Wundanyi

Authorities in Taita Sub-County, Taita Taveta County, are actively searching for eight suspects who orchestrated a daring prison break at the Wundanyi Police Station.

The escape, which resembled a scene from a movie, took place after meticulous planning, allowing the prisoners to break free from their remand cell and escape through the roof.

What remains puzzling is how the prisoners managed to cut through an iron-sheet roof without alerting any officers, allowing them to escape undetected.

According to an official police report filed at Wundanyi Police Station, the break occurred just minutes before midnight on Saturday.

Police Investigation Reveals Prisoners Escaped Through Roof

The incident was thoroughly investigated by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Wundanyi Police Station and the Senior Sub-County Investigating Officer (SSCIO), who visited the scene.

They confirmed that the prisoners escaped through the roof of Ward 3 by cutting through the iron sheets.

“The operation was carried out successfully just before midnight,” the police report stated. “The prisoners escaped through the roof of Ward 3 after cutting the iron sheet.”

The eight escapees have been identified as follows: Patrick Karisa (28) – Charged with housebreaking; Erickson Mwachofi (18) – Charged with rape; Alex Makezi (30) – Charged with grievous harm; Edward Maighasho (28) – Charged with defilement; Robert Muchugwa Mwawasi (19) – Charged with sexual assault, Mwangemi Mwanyange (22) – Charged with housebreaking, assault, and resisting arrest; Joseph Kalama (39) – Charged with breaking into a building with the intent to commit a felony, housebreaking, and stealing government property, Samuel Ngota Onyango (18) – Charged with gang rape.

The police are currently on the hunt for these suspects, and authorities have urged the public to report any sightings or information that could assist in their capture.
