Dela Ward MCA Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, who mysteriously disappeared in September 2024, has finally reunited with his family, ending months of speculation and uncertainty.
His return was confirmed by Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Jehow, who described it as a moment of immense relief for his family and constituents.
“This is a huge wave of relief, a tidal wave of joy. I can almost feel the collective sigh of relief from every Wajirian, especially our beloved people of Eldas, who have carried this burden with us,” she wrote on Facebook.
She further added, “My heart swells with gratitude, with a joy so profound it brings tears to my eyes. May Allah bless him, protect him, and grant him peace. Alhamdulillah.”
A Disappearance That Sparked Nationwide Concern
Ahmed was abducted on September 13, 2024, along Enterprise Road in Nairobi’s Industrial Area under unclear circumstances.
His sudden disappearance raised alarm, leading to public outcry and political pressure.
A month later, a body was retrieved from Lake Yahud and was initially believed to be Ahmed’s. However, two independent DNA tests later confirmed it was not him, extending the uncertainty surrounding his whereabouts.
The situation escalated into a national issue, with 47 County Assemblies threatening to adjourn House sittings until their missing colleague was found.
Unanswered Questions Linger
Despite his return, key questions remain unanswered—where was Ahmed for the past five months? Who was behind his abduction? How was he released? Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and reappearance.
While his safe return has brought relief, the mystery surrounding his ordeal continues to raise concerns about security and enforced disappearances in Kenya
