According to a police incident report obtained by Kondele News, the area Assistant Chief reported a death under unclear circumstances, with alleged plans underway to bury the deceased within the church compound.
Responding to the report, officers proceeded to St. Joseph Missions of Africa Church, located in Kachola village.
“The sub-county security and intelligence committee, led by the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) and police, arrived at the scene approximately 10 kilometers north of the station and discovered the lifeless body of Francis Muli, an adult of unknown age, lying on the floor of a prayer room within the church compound,” the report seen by Kondele News stated.
The police further noted, “The body was completely covered in a white robe and wrapped in a grey sheet. Upon inspection, injuries were observed on the face, and foam was emanating from the mouth. The scene was processed, and necessary actions were taken. The body has been transferred to Rosewood mortuary pending a postmortem examination.”
The police had earlier reported the recovery of another body from the same location.
Subsequently, a search was conducted within the church premises, leading to the rescue of 57 people residing there, some of whom appeared weak and frail.
The group was then escorted to Rongo sub-County hospital for medical evaluation; however, all 57 individuals reportedly refused to be examined by medical personnel and began making noises and singing religious songs.
Due to their disruptive behavior, medical officers advised that the group be moved from the hospital to avoid disturbing other patients.
Consequently, they were taken to the police station to await further instructions.
