Give Orengo a break, Siaya residents tell CS Opiyo Wandayi

SIAYA: A section of Siaya residents, led by local opinion leaders, have raised concerns over the escalating political feud between Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and Siaya Governor James Orengo.

Speaking during a press briefing, Francis Amollo accused the CS of spearheading an onslaught against the county boss and urged him to show respect and collaborate with Orengo.

“We urge the CS for Energy to work harmoniously with the governor and end the ongoing power struggle that is hampering service delivery. It reflects poorly when top leaders engage in unnecessary conflict,” Amollo said.

The remarks come just a week after CS Wandayi publicly criticized Governor Orengo, accusing him of underperformance.

In response, residents insisted that the CS should focus on his national responsibilities rather than interfering with county affairs.

Fredrick Owira, another community member, affirmed that they would not tolerate any provocation directed at Governor Orengo, emphasizing that the governor deserves respect.

Residents lauded the numerous development projects initiated under Orengo’s administration, describing them as clear evidence of his commitment to uplifting the county.

Youth leader Sam Pesa also condemned the alleged attempts by Wandayi to create divisions, warning that his Cabinet position should not be used to fuel political tensions.

He called for Orengo to be given the space and support needed to deliver on his mandate as the county’s chief executive.
