Riggy G denied Kasarani venue to launch his party

Sports Kenya has declined to grant the Democracy for the Citizen Party (DCP), led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, permission to use the Kasarani Indoor Arena Auditorium for its scheduled launch on June 3, 2025.

The DCP had formally requested the venue, but in a letter dated May 26, acting Director General Gabriel Komora cited prior bookings for sporting events and ongoing preparations for the Champions for Africa Nations (CHAN) tournament as reasons for the denial.

The letter expressed regret for the inconvenience and advised the DCP to seek an alternative venue.

Opposition figures have interpreted the refusal as a politically motivated move aimed at obstructing Gachagua’s efforts to consolidate support in Nairobi, as he works to strengthen his Mt. Kenya base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
