New Millionaire in Town: Boniface Kamau Bags Record Sh424 Million in SportPesa Mega Jackpot Win

Boniface “Bonnie” Kamau has joined Kenya’s exclusive list of SportPesa Mega Jackpot millionaires, walking away with a record-breaking Sh424,660,618 after flawlessly predicting the outcome of 17 matches played on March 3, 2025.

Kamau, unveiled on Wednesday at a colourful ceremony at the JW Marriott, becomes the fourth winner of the Mega Jackpot — and the first since 2018.

His victory shadows all previous wins, including Samuel Abisai’s Sh221 million in April 2017, the trio of Daniel Rono, Geoffrey Keitany and Florence Machogu’s Sh111 million in May 2017, Gordon Ogada’s Sh230 million in February 2018, and Cosmas Korir’s Sh208 million in September 2018.

SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri personally broke the news to Kamau on August 4, 2025, in a now-viral phone call.

“Sasa wewe ndio umeshinda Mega Jackpot tu bana,” Karauri said, adding that the entire amount would be deposited into Kamau’s account following the removal of tax on winnings.
“So hii pesa yote inaingia kwa mfuko yako.”

Kamau, however, responded with calm humility, crediting his fortune to divine intervention.

“Vitu zingine ni God… wacha tu tuseme ni God,” he remarked.

In true homecoming style, SportPesa sponsored his flight to Nakuru, where he celebrated with family.

Speaking at the unveiling, SportPesa PR Manager Willis Ojwang’ dismissed scepticism over the jackpot’s authenticity.

“We manufacture real millionaires,” he said, declaring Kamau’s win proof that the Mega Jackpot is alive and real.
