Lost gun: Migori Police Officer Detained After Losing Firearm in Bar Incident

KURIA WEST: A Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer in Migori County is in custody after losing his firearm, loaded with 15 bullets, under unclear circumstances in Kehancha town.

The officer, identified as James King’ori, allegedly misplaced the pistol on the night of August 10 while in the company of a woman at a local bar.

Kuria West Sub-County Police Commander Reuben Bett confirmed the incident, saying a search operation has been launched to recover the missing weapon.

“We are searching for the firearm. The Kehancha DCI officer was on assignment when he realized the pistol was missing,” Bett said, adding that the officer was alone at the time of discovery.

Investigations are ongoing to establish how the firearm disappeared and to trace it before it falls into the wrong hands.
