MACHAKOS: Police in Machakos County are investigating the gruesome killing of a woman whose body was found submerged in a water tank inside her home in Kithyoko, Masinga, in what detectives believe may have been a crime of passion.
The victim, identified as Pauline Mukeli Nzioka, was discovered after neighbours grew concerned when her house remained locked for hours.
Police and locals broke into the home and were met with a chilling scene — blood stains on the floor, her slippers strewn apart, and her lifeless body hidden in the water tank.
In the bedroom, investigators recovered a hammer and an iron sheet cutter, both smeared with blood.
Police said Mukeli had sustained multiple head injuries before being dumped in the tank.
The main suspect, believed to be her husband, is now on the run and wanted for questioning. Locals told officers that the man had previously separated from his first wife.
Authorities at the scene described the killing as “horrible” and “likely driven by anger and vengeance.”
The incident adds to growing concerns over the rising number of murder cases across the country, many tied to love triangles, land disputes, and violent robberies.
