Five Suspects Arrested in Kakamega Over Bhang, Contraband and Stolen Goods

KAKAMEGA: Police in Kakamega have arrested five suspects following a targeted operation conducted in Kakamega Town on 16 August 2025.

According to authorities, the operation was informed by intelligence from members of the public and led to the recovery of a large haul of suspected narcotics and contraband.

Among the seized items were approximately 1,412 rolls of bhang, 16 packets of Oris cigarettes, 25 packets of Milano cigarettes, and one packet of Supermatch, all believed to be uncustomed goods.

Police also recovered suspected stolen property, including three 6kg gas cylinders and assorted household items.

The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday, 18 August 2025.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against narcotics, illicit brews, and other criminal activities that threaten public safety.
