Harambee Stars winger Boniface Muchiri says he takes great pride in serving Kenya both as a footballer and as a soldier.
The 28-year-old, who also serves in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), revealed that there are two uniforms that hold a special place in his life: the Harambee Stars jersey and the military fatigues.
“I respect the two uniforms that help me serve my nation better. As a KDF officer and national team player, I feel privileged to serve my country in both capacities,” Muchiri said during an interview with Citizen TV presenters Olive Burrows and Ayub Abdikadir.
Muchiri, who is fondly nicknamed “Afande” by his teammates, grew up in Amagoro, Busia County, where he was raised by a single mother.
Beyond his national team duties, the forward plays for Ulinzi Stars, a Kenya Defence Forces football club, which he joined seven years ago.
Muchiri has become a key figure in Kenyan football, balancing his military service with representing the country on the pitch.
