The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is looking to hire 24,000 interns to support the new Competency-Based Education (CBE) in junior schools.
Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply online through the commission’s website by September 9, 2025, to secure one of these one-year teaching positions.
Key Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet specific criteria and provide the following documents:
- Academic and Professional Documents: Candidates must present original copies of their academic and professional certificates.
- TSC Registration: A copy of the teacher’s registration certificate or a printout from the TSC online portal is required as proof of registration.
- Personal Accident Insurance: Applicants must have personal accident insurance cover.
- Identification: A copy of your National ID card or passport.
- Photos: Two color passport-size photographs.
- KRA PIN: A copy of your Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
- NCPWD Card: A copy of your National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card, if applicable.
Internship Program and Stipend
The Teacher Internship Programme is a one-year program designed to enhance the skills and competencies of new teachers.
Interns will be assigned to schools where they will receive mentorship, coaching, and hands-on teaching experience.
Interns assigned to junior secondary schools will receive a monthly stipend of KSh20,000, which is subject to relevant deductions. Selection will be based strictly on merit.
