TSC to employ 24,000 interns for the CBE

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is looking to hire 24,000 interns to support the new Competency-Based Education (CBE) in junior schools.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply online through the commission’s website by September 9, 2025, to secure one of these one-year teaching positions.

Key Requirements

To be considered, applicants must meet specific criteria and provide the following documents:

  • Academic and Professional Documents: Candidates must present original copies of their academic and professional certificates.
  • TSC Registration: A copy of the teacher’s registration certificate or a printout from the TSC online portal is required as proof of registration.
  • Personal Accident Insurance: Applicants must have personal accident insurance cover.
  • Identification: A copy of your National ID card or passport.
  • Photos: Two color passport-size photographs.
  • KRA PIN: A copy of your Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
  • NCPWD Card: A copy of your National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card, if applicable.

Internship Program and Stipend

The Teacher Internship Programme is a one-year program designed to enhance the skills and competencies of new teachers.

Interns will be assigned to schools where they will receive mentorship, coaching, and hands-on teaching experience.

Interns assigned to junior secondary schools will receive a monthly stipend of KSh20,000, which is subject to relevant deductions. Selection will be based strictly on merit.
