Shock as a businessman is murdered at his home

A businessman was senselessly murdered in his own home during a robbery, leaving his family terrorized and a community asking questions.

The brutal nature of the crime and the calculated actions of the perpetrators suggest a level of violence that police are now working to unravel.

Benson Mutua Munguti, a 43-year-old businessman, fought to protect his family, but he was overwhelmed.

In the chaos of the robbery, the attackers slit his throat, leaving him with a fatal wound. Yet, in a testament to her courage, his wife managed to hide herself and their young son in a separate room, a desperate act of survival that spared their lives.

They listened in terrified silence as the gang ransacked their home.

Once the attackers had left, the wife’s screams for help pierced the night, bringing neighbors to the scene.

The police were called, and their initial findings revealed a chilling detail: the attackers wore gloves, a clear sign that this was not a random act of violence.

This was a calculated and cold-blooded mission, a desperate attempt to erase any traces that could lead to their capture.

The gloves, stained with blood, were later found discarded in a nearby bush, a piece of crucial evidence that police believe could help unravel the case.

While the primary motive remains shrouded in mystery, police have established that the gang’s actions were driven by a mix of violence and theft.

They made off with a single item—a television set valued at Sh9,000—before disappearing into the night.

Benson Mutua Munguti’s body has been moved to the mortuary as a comprehensive investigation gets underway, but for his family, the scars of that night will forever remain.

Tragedies Elsewhere

In a separate and equally shocking incident, a woman aged about 100 years, identified as Choni Kazungu, was found murdered in her house in Dida village, Kilifi County.

Police believe the assailants gained entry by removing bricks from her wall as she slept. The elderly woman, who lived alone, was found with fatal head injuries.

No arrests have been made, but police are actively pursuing leads.
