Arrest of ‘Team Nati Dread’ Gang Leader Signals End to Malindi’s Reign of Terror

A multi-agency operation to dismantle organized crime in Malindi has led to the arrest of a notorious gang leader, Abdalla Matano Abdalla, alias Dalla.

His capture marked a significant victory against the feared “Team Nati Dread” gang, which has long terrorized local residents.

Following his arrest, Dalla led detectives to the NAT and Kwa Famau areas of Maweni, where seven of his key accomplices were apprehended.

The suspects—Cosmos Kesi Kalama (alias Bweko), Erick Alex Lewa (alias Generali), Edwin Ondiro Onyonyi (alias Last), Simon Alex Kalama (alias Desai), Joseph Masha (alias Thee), Moses Kwicha Mzee (alias Timoteo), and Salim Ali Safari (alias Mzukulu)—are all hardened members of the criminal outfit.

In a recent and particularly brutal incident, one of the arrested members, ‘Generali’, had his wrist severed while attempting to rob a member of the public.

The limb has since been taken to the Malindi Sub-County Hospital Mortuary.

All the suspects are now in custody, undergoing profiling and processing before their arraignment, signaling a new era of security for the Malindi community.
