Two AK-47 Rifles Voluntarily Surrendered to Police in Elgeyo Marakwet

ELGEYO MARAKWET: Two illegal AK-47 rifles were voluntarily surrendered to police in Tot, Elgeyo Marakwet County, yesterday.

The handover is part of ongoing efforts to restore security in the volatile Kerio Valley region.

The firearms were given up by two residents of Kabisioi Village, Olot Sub-location.

One of the rifles, which had a retractable butt, was found loaded with twelve rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

The second rifle, fitted with a wooden butt, had an empty magazine.

The surrendered weapons have been secured by police and are being held for further administrative action.

The National Police Service has praised the community’s cooperation, emphasizing that it is crucial to the success of the ongoing disarmament efforts.

The service reiterated its commitment to enhancing security and establishing lasting peace in the Kerio Valley.
