YALA; Siaya County Women Representative Christine Ombaka became the center of attention during President William Ruto’s “State of BETA” development tour in Gem Sub-county.
Arriving with enthusiasm that captivated onlookers, Dr Ombaka joined the President’s entourage in Yala, where she was invited to address the public.
The former university don and academician, now serving her third term as the county lawmaker, is one of the leaders from Nyanza supporting the broad based formation.
“Thank you, your excellency, for the affordable housing project that will provide jobs for our people. We are grateful for the roads and schools you are building,” Dr Ombaka stated when she finally got opportunity to address the enthusiastic crowd.
“These programs will define your legacy, and for that, we are truly thankful.”
Dr Ombaka, who is now eyeing the Gem parliamentary seat, went further to pledge her support for the President’s re-election.
“We are going to protect your votes in 2027. He will be a ‘two-term’ President because he is doing very well, and we are grateful,” she noted.
The County MP further made a direct appeal to the Ministry of Interior to bolster local security appealing for additional vehicles and personnel for the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) to combat rising violence in the area.
“The police here need more vehicles to patrol the area and more boots on the ground to instill fear in perpetrators and ensure a habitable community for all,” she appealed.
As she prepares to exit the Women Representative position, Dr Ombaka has officially entered the crowded race for the Gem constituency seat.
She is set to battle it out against the incumbent Elisha Odhiambo, Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga, Dr Jalango Midiwo, and Eng Sam Opot, among others.
