Cucurella honors World Cup pledge with De la Fuente tattoo

BY AGENCY: Spain’s World Cup victory sparked unforgettable scenes across the nation, from wild street celebrations and a royal reception to a fulfilled viral promise.

Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella officially honored his vow by getting a tattoo of La Roja head coach Luis de la Fuente on his upper arm.

Following Spain’s second World Cup title, reporters reminded the 65-year-old manager of the squad’s pre-tournament pledges.

A cheerful De la Fuente responded that while the players might have made a mistake, “they are men of their word, and they will stick to their word… they will just need to find a part of their body which is not too visible.”

True to his word, Cucurella went under the needle, capturing the process on video as he inked an image of De la Fuente proudly lifting the World Cup trophy.

While it remains unclear if other players will follow suit, Cucurella’s tribute ensures De la Fuente’s place not just in football history, but as one of the defining stories of Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph.
