A 30-year-old Presidential Escort Unit officer died in an apparent suicide early Wednesday morning inside his residential quarters in Juja, Kiambu County.

This comes just moments after another shocking news of uniformed officer taking own life in Kisii County.

The officer, identified as Police Constable Dennis Kibet Cheruiyot, was found in his house within the unit’s residential lines.

Senior commanders and crime scene investigators responded to the scene, where preliminary evidence showed a single shot had been fired from a service firearm recovered at the location.

Detectives also found a three-page handwritten note on a nearby table outlining personal struggles and final wishes.

While police have not released the contents of the note, the crime scene has been processed, and the officer’s body was taken to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Juja has opened an investigation into the incident.
