A Siaya based cleric has called on the country’s youth not to turn the country into a bloodbath but be ready to accept the outcome of next year’s presidential results.
Bishop Thomas Genga of Got Sinai Foundation Roho Maler Church of Africa at the same time predicted that the sitting president, William Samoei Ruto will secure second term even if the opposition unites to produce a single candidate to face him.
Speaking at Got Sinai church in Harambee, Usonga location, Siaya county, Bishop Genga called on the Gen Zs to have a reflection among themselves and respect the leaders and their parents.
He called on Kenyans to pray for the nation and the leaders.
Meanwhile, the civil society in Siaya has challenged the youth shun political rallies convened by politicians known to be violent.
Led by a member of the Police Reform Working group, Odhiambo Ojiro, the civil society further asked religious leaders not to allow such politicians join their congregations.
Ojiro, who addressed the media after attending a church serve at Got Sinai church, challenged the residents of Luo Nyanza to take time and have a reflection on why there was too much violence in the region that has no presidential candidate in the forth coming general elections.
“Who is sponsoring the violence and who is benefitting from the political confusion in Luo Nyanza?” he posed.
Senator Oburu should give direction
Ojiro challenged Nyanza politicians, led by Dr Oburu Oginga to rise to the occasion and show leadership to the community.
“Dr Oburu Oginga is failing the people of Luo Nyanza, he has failed to show leadership and guidance to the direction that the community should take on the political questions” he said.
Ojiro called on religious leaders to take charges of the affairs in the absence of strong political leadership to guide the community.
He at the same time called on president William Ruto reign in on Nyanza politicians who purport to be supporting him but are hell bent on reigning terror on the residents.
“Based on our own preliminary investigations as the civil society, we have established that politicians aligned to this government were involved in the goonism that marred the Linda Mwananchi rally in Homabay recently” he said adding” some of the vehicle belonged to a sitting senator from this region and some of the goons have confirmed that they were actually paid by a sitting governor and a member of parliament from this region”.
