UDA is the new normal in Siaya County, JT Okinda

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is gaining momentum in Siaya County, with a reported membership of 196,000, as announced by party members led by architect JT Okinda.

Okinda, who contested the Siaya senatorial seat in the last general elections as an independent candidate, emphasized the increasing support for President William Ruto’s party in the region. He attributed this trend to the perceived vacuum left by opposition leader Raila Odinga in local politics.

Speaking at a press conference in Siaya town, where he declared his affiliation with UDA, Okinda encouraged Siaya residents and the broader Nyanza region to collaborate with the current government.

“We should unite under UDA to bolster our presence within the party structure,” he asserted. “I firmly believe that William Ruto will lead the nation until 2032, regardless of any opposition.”

Okinda emphasized that it was futile for Nyanza residents to remain in the opposition fold, given the absence of a formidable leader like Odinga. He urged Siaya residents to participate actively in the upcoming UDA party elections scheduled for June 29, 2024, emphasizing that they should not be swayed by intimidation tactics from other parties claiming dominance in the area.

Richard Ochieng, a UDA member in Siaya, echoed Okinda’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of upholding democracy by allowing individuals to join parties of their choice.

Ochieng also commended ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo and Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo for their efforts in bridging the gap between the community and the government.
