MPs don’t compose or read bills, Senator Ledama OleKina

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has defended Members of Parliament from criticism regarding the regressive bills passed in parliament. He claimed that many MPs do not thoroughly read the bills they vote on.

In a statement on his X platform, Mr. Ole Kina highlighted that policies are predominantly crafted by technocrats in the Ministry of Finance, portraying parliament as merely a legal rubber stamp for these proposals.

“The real problem is never the politician, you will get to learn this shortly! he or she is only there for a defined period of time , the problem is the technocrats! In fact most politicians don’t even read the bills they pass! Most bills are not drafted by the politicians but by the technocrats,” posted Mr Ole Kina on his X account.

He further stated, “Politicians only table them in parliament. When the bill upsets the constitution, we amend it to make it constitutional.”
