BONDO; Four individuals are currently detained at Bondo Police Station following their arrest in connection with the death of a middle-aged fisherman on Ndeda Island in Bondo sub-county yesterday evening.
Richard Tekla, Dancun Lubali, Joseph Ooko, and Gladys Akinyi were apprehended after the body of their colleague, Aroni Mufuma, was discovered hanging from a stationary boat at Ndeda Island, suspected to be a case of murder.
Siaya County Police Commander, Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, reported that Assistant Chief Patrick Gimona of Ndeda-Oyamo sub-location notified authorities about the suspected murder of a male in his jurisdiction.
Upon arriving at Ndeda Island, police officers found Aroni Mufuma Juma’s body hanging from a sisal rope tied inside a boat.
Further investigation revealed that the deceased had recently moved in with his girlfriend, Gladys Akinyi, in a house shared by his friends Richard, Duncan, and Joseph.
Mr. Kimaiyo explained that the deceased had suspicions that his friends were involved with Gladys whenever he was away for their routine fishing trips.
According to the police commander, a dispute erupted among them on Sunday night regarding this matter, after which the deceased went out during the night and was found hanging in the boat the next day.
Confirming the incident, Mr. Kimaiyo mentioned that the four suspects, Richard, Duncan, Joseph, and Gladys, are in custody to assist with investigations. The body of Aroni has been transferred to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
