Police in coast nab bhang worth Sh 11 million

Anti Narcotics Unit detectives in the Coast have arrested a motorist in possession of one million worth of cannabis sativa.

Acting on a tip off, the detectives conducted an operation along Samburu – kinango road where they laid an ambush at Mdomo center, successfully intercepting a heavily laden Toyota Ipsum registration number KBJ 679M.

According to a police report read by Kondele News, the car driver jumped out of the car successfully escaping from a nearby thicket.

The co-driver,32-year-old Elisha Omondi was not so lucky, and got arrested.

A search conducted on the car revealed seven green gunny sacks containing long khaki rolls of marijuana weighing 389.45 kgs, with an estimated street value of ksh 11,683,500.

The suspect was taken to Mombasa urban police station while the recovered narcotics were kept as exhibit in the case.

Meanwhile, the police are pursuing the elusive suspect
