Arrest Peter Salasya, Small cliams court issues an arrest warrant over unpaid debt

Kakamega: Mumias East MP Peter Salasya is facing an arrest warrant issued by the Kakamega Small Claims Court for allegedly failing to repay a debt owed to a local businessman.

The warrant was issued by Adjudicator Caroline Cheruiyot after Salasya failed to clear a debt of Sh563,000, which includes Sh500,000 borrowed in 2022 and accrued interest.

The court has ordered that Salasya be arrested unless he pays the full amount plus expenses related to the execution of the warrant.

Despite Salasya’s request in April to settle the debt through monthly installments of Sh50,000, citing financial difficulties, the court rejected his plea.

The court noted that Salasya had not made any payments since the decree was issued in January, questioning his commitment to resolving the debt.

This legal battle highlights the financial challenges faced by the MP and raises questions about his ability to manage personal financial obligations while serving in public office.
