Pain as a woman is mauled by hyena in Juja, Kiambu

A village in Juja is mourning the death of a woman who was mauled early this morning by a hyena that had escaped from a nearby game reserve.

The deceased, identified as 52-year-old Nancy Njoki Thuo, was attacked around 7:00 AM on her way home.

Pictures circulating online show her severely ravaged body, highlighting the brutality of the attack. Juja Sub-county Police Commander Michael Mwaura confirmed the incident and stated that they are in constant communication with Kenya Wildlife Services.

“We are working to track the hyena and return it to the reserve. The locals have been complaining about the roaming beast,” he said.

Nancy was a food vendor and was attacked while on her way home to prepare food for her customers.
