Emurua Dikir: Narok County was the scene of a tragic accident on Saturday, when a truck transporting an excavator collided with a stationary motorcycle on the Dikir-Chebunyo road, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.
The victimswere a motorcycle rider and a pillion passenger, were crushed by the heavy truck.
According to Area Chief Richard Chesimet, another rider who had stopped nearby sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Chief Chesimet provided further insight into the circumstances leading up to the accident.
“It appears the deceased were drunk, as they were riding at high speed and singing loudly when they struck the stationary motorcycle,” he revealed.
The impact was fatal, and both the rider and the passenger died instantly.
The accident occurred approximately half a kilometer from Dikir town.
Trasmara East Subcounty Police Commander Boniface Kavoo and his team arrived at the scene, where they conducted an investigation and transported the bodies to the morgue.
Mr Kavoo issued cautioned the motorcycle riders against speeding and riding under the influence of alcohol and substance.
“This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of reckless riding,” he said. “We urge all riders to prioritize safety to prevent such heart-wrenching losses.”
