President William Ruto has backtracked on his earlier accusations against the multi-billion global organization Ford Foundation.
While in New York, USA, for an official duty, the president appeared to praise the foundation he once criticized for allegedly funding anarchy during the famous Gen-Z protests against his administration.
Dr. Ruto took to his Facebook page to post pictures with the Ford Foundation President in New York City.
“Kenya appreciates the Ford Foundation’s commitment to safeguarding our democracy and supporting Kenya’s calls for reforms in global economic institutions, climate action, and modern technology regulation,” posted the Head of State.
He further mentioned, “Held talks with the President of the Ford Foundation, Darren Walker, in New York.”
Three months ago, at the height of the demonstrations, Dr. Ruto blamed the organization, accusing them of facilitating the violence that claimed the lives of at least 40 youths.
The protests, which saw youths invade the parliamentary building on June 25, made headlines both in Kenya and globally.
With this newly established understanding between the president and Ford Foundation, many Kenyans are waiting to see whether Dr. Ruto will retract his earlier sentiments.
