A student at the University of Nairobi’s Chiromo campus was murdered, and her body was found dumped in a thicket in Mwiki.

Mercy Kwamboka disappeared from her home in Pipeline around 11 p.m. after receiving a phone call, only to be discovered dead later.

The deceased’s mother, Stella Kerubo, expressed her anguish over the brutal act, lamenting the mutilation of Kwamboka’s body and the acid burns on her hands.

” Na walimtesa sana sababu miguu ilikuwa imevunjwa kama miwa na mikono imemwagiliwa acid, (They tortured her severely; her legs were broken like sugarcane, and her hands were doused in acid),” said Kerubo.

A witness who stumbled upon the body described the scene: “Nilikuja nikapata amelala hapa, hana trouser but ako tu na nguo ya ndani. Kuna simu na nyuma ya simu ilikuwa na 1,000, na blanketi na kiatu ya black (I arrived and found her lying here, without trousers, only in her underwear. There was a phone next to her, with 1,000 shillings behind it, along with a blanket and a black shoe).”

It has been established that the murder was intentional, as her valuables, including her phone and money, were left at the scene.

“You can see she was trying to get up and walk, but she couldn’t. It seems something had happened here before I was alerted; a car came, left, and then returned,” the witness added.

The body has been taken to the mortuary as investigations begin to unravel the mystery surrounding Kwamboka’s gruesome murder.
