Former CS Raphael Tuju has urged the Anglican Church to reconsider its doctrines to allow men the option of marrying more than one wife.
Speaking at ACK Church Ralingo, Mr. Tuju reflected on his family history, highlighting how polygamy played a role in his own existence.
“My grandfather married a first wife who was unable to have children. As a Christian believer, he took a second wife who was blessed with children. Without that, some of us might not have been born,” he explained, emphasizing the nuanced nature of the issue.
However, he clarified, “Let it not be said that I am encouraging men to take additional wives; I am simply stating that there can be circumstances where it may be permitted.”
Mr. Tuju participated in a 45-kilometer walk from Kisumu to Ralingo, where he was among the guests who officiated the opening of a new church complex.
This modern facility will not only serve as a place of worship but will also include a fully equipped ICT center aimed at teaching young people how to earn money online.
According to Mr. Tuju, who also served as the Rarieda lawmaker from 2002 to 2007, the youth will have the opportunity to harness unlimited online resources to create employment for themselves.
