Three family members among the seven dead in Majengo night fire

 A family is mourning the death of three family members, who are among the seven who perished in a fire incident on Tuesday night in Kitui Village , Majengo slums in Nairobi.

The victims, mostly men, were taken to nearby hospitals having sustained injuries in the night inferno.

Emergency response and the police worked through the night to control the situation.

The fire brought down 50 houses and destroyed property of unknown value, leaving many families homeless.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but the police have launched investigations into the matter, calling on anyone with information about the cause of the fire to contact the police.

“Those are many people to die in such an incident and they are all men. We are investigating the tragedy,” said Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei.

The Kenya Red Cross reported treating at least 16 people with minor injuries.

“Together with the Nairobi City County Fire Department and members of the community, we have managed to contain a fire incident in Kitui Village, Majengo, Nairobi. The Kenya Red Cross remains on site, supporting efforts to locate missing persons,” read a statement on Twitter.

The affected families are calling on well-wishers to help them rebuild their lives. The bodies of the deceased were moved to City Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
