UGENYA: Police in Ugenya have launched a manhunt for a suspect linked to the brutal murder of a boda boda rider whose body was discovered in a farm under suspicious circumstances.

James Omondi Osowo 19, was also a promising footballer who had just played a friendly game in Chianda, Rarieda sub county before his untimely brutal murder.

According to East Karadolo Assistant Chief, George Ominde, the body was initially mistaken for that of a drunk man who had passed out.

The farmer who found him attempted to wake him but, upon realizing the man was unresponsive, alerted local authorities.

“When we arrived at the scene and turned him over, we discovered deep stab wounds on his chest and belly,” Ominde stated.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased, a young and promising footballer, was attacked by an unknown assailant. His pillion passenger, who is now missing, has become the prime suspect.

Authorities believe the passenger could have either committed the crime or has crucial information about the murder.

“If they had been attacked together and he escaped, he would have reported it to the police,” said the chief.

Additionally, police recovered a bent kitchen knife a few meters from where the body was dumped, which could be a key piece of evidence.

Detectives are now working to track down the missing passenger and recover the deceased’s motorcycle, which was also stolen during the incident.
