This is why Migori County has no modern stadium, Governor Ayako explains

MIGORI: Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko has defended himself against criticism over the county’s lack of a modern stadium, arguing that his administration inherited financial constraints that have slowed development.

Speaking during an interview with Ramogi TV, Ayacko dismissed comparisons with neighboring counties, where governors have unveiled new stadiums, insisting that his situation is different from that of his counterparts in Homa Bay, Kisumu, and Siaya.

“In Kisii, the national government helped build Gusii Stadium. In Homa Bay, Cyprian Awiti laid the foundation for Gladys Wanga to complete. The same happened in Siaya, where Cornell Rasanga set the stage for James Orengo to finalize the project,” he explained.

He further claimed that his predecessor, Okoth Obado, left behind huge debts that his administration is still struggling to settle, making it difficult to prioritize large-scale projects like a stadium.

Despite these challenges, Ayacko assured Migori residents that his government is committed to delivering a modern stadium before the end of his tenure.
