NAIROBI: Police in Nairobi have launched an investigation into the sudden and tragic death of a teacher in Nairobi.
The deceased, identified as James Mathenge, was a teacher at Nadhir Integrated Academy. He reportedly collapsed and died while playing with a group of students at a playground in the Pangani area.
According to reports, the deceased had taken a group of pupils to the Sir Ali Muslim Academy grounds for an afternoon soccer session when the incident occurred.
Witnesses told police that the teacher appeared to be having difficulty breathing before he suddenly collapsed at around 3 p.m.
Efforts to save him were made immediately, and he was rushed to a nearby medical facility. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers responded to the scene and recorded statements from witnesses as part of their preliminary investigation.
The body was later transferred to the mortuary for autopsy and further examination to determine the exact cause of death.
