Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged Kenyans to reject the path of chaos and instead embrace dialogue and collaboration with the government for accelerated service delivery.
Speaking at a women empowerment function at Busende Primary School in Busia County, the DP acknowledged the nation’s challenges but firmly stated that “rioting can never be a solution.”
“Every nation faces hurdles, but destroying property and looting is not how we overcome them,” Kindiki asserted, setting a tone of pragmatism and unity.
“Our country will only progress when we come together and build.”
The core of the DP’s message revolved around the government’s multi-pronged approach to tackling unemployment, particularly among the youth.
Beyond job creation, Kindiki addressed the education sector, stating that 76,000 new teachers have been employed to address shortages, with a further 24,000 positions to be filled by December, bringing the total to 100,000.
Beyond the Economy: A Unified Kenya:
The importance of a peaceful and unified nation was a recurring theme. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi emphasized respecting democratic principles without infringing on others’ rights.
“We cannot have demonstrations that destroy property or deny others the chance to earn a living,” Mudavadi stressed, urging leaders to temper their language regarding elections and trust the IEBC to deliver its mandate credibly.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula echoed this sentiment, particularly calling for unity within the Western region.
“Leaders must support the existing leadership to learn and grow,” Wetangula advised, advocating for all leaders to rally behind the President and foster regional unity regardless of tribal or social standing.
Adding a local perspective, Busia County Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo directly addressed the women beneficiaries, urging them to utilize the empowerment funds wisely.
“This support is not for consumption; it’s an opportunity to grow your businesses, expand your projects, and engage in initiatives that genuinely improve your lives,” she motivated.
