Notorious Fraudster Arrested for Duping Job Seeker Out of Sh130,000

Abraham Kimeli, a fraudster who masqueraded as the personal assistant to the Head of Public Service, has been arrested for duping a job seeker out of Sh130,000 in an elaborate scheme that started on TikTok.

The victim, a woman working in Lebanon, was looking for a way to return home to a stable job.

In February 2024, she connected with a follower on TikTok who called himself “City Tycoon” and offered to help. What followed was a web of deception.

The fraudster quickly earned her trust, providing his mobile number and painting a picture of himself as a well-connected government insider.

He convinced her of a promising job opportunity and even sent a seemingly official document from the Public Service Commission to make the lie more believable.

As he continued his deceit, he began demanding “facilitation fees.”

Desperate for the job, the woman enlisted her employer’s help to send the money through Western Union.

By the time she realized she’d been scammed, she had lost Ksh. 130,000.

Thanks to a diligent forensic investigation, this con artist was finally tracked down and taken into custody.

He now faces legal repercussions for his fraudulent actions.
