Shortly after Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen assured on Twitter that power supply at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was stable, the airport experienced a blackout, causing disruptions
CNN African Correspondent Larry Madowo took to Twitter to taunt the Transport boss, updating about the darkened JKIA, sparking various reactions.
Larry’s tweet read, “Blackout right now at JKIA hours after Kenya’s Transport Minister toured it and said they had stabilized electricity supply.”
This isn’t the first time the two Kenyans have aired their differences online.
Previously, Murkomen had tweeted, “I am impressed by the commendable work done by KAA under our directive and with an austere budget. We have stabilized the electricity supply and we are now moving to the next phase of greening the airport by installing solar power and even selling some to the national grid.”
He also mentioned ongoing renovations aimed at addressing the perennial leakage problem, stating, “I visited the airport to inspect the progress of ongoing works to build a roof above Terminal 1B and 1C which will solve the perennial leakages onto level 1 while creating more capacity at the facility for a new arrival terminal and lounges as we prepare to decommission Terminal 1E.”
