Police officers from Nambale Police Station have made an arrest and a significant recovery in their ongoing fight against drug trafficking.
Yesterday, an operation at a roadblock along the Nambale-Mumias Road resulted in the seizure of six kilograms of cannabis sativa.
The narcotics, which have an estimated street value of Ksh. 180,000, were secured as an exhibit. The suspect is currently in custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court.
Elsewhere, the National Police Service (NPS) is intensifying its crackdown on illicit brews and drug abuse in Meru County as part of a commitment to safeguarding public health.
During an operation in Laare, Igembe North Sub-County, officers raided a homestead suspected of being a major production point for the illicit spirit, Chang’aa.
While the main suspect managed to flee moments before the officers gained entry, an active brewing operation was discovered inside the compound.
The officers successfully seized several items of brewing apparatus and quantities of the illegal brew.
These items have been secured at the station as efforts to apprehend the suspect behind the operation continue.
