Dawoodi Bohra Community Honors Late Odinga’s Legacy of Peace and Unity

BONDO: The Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community yesterday, November 26, joined the list of groups making a pilgrimage to the grave of the late former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga to honor his lifelong contribution to peace, unity, and justice in the country.

The community’s visit follows the passing of Odinga, who was laid to rest on October 19th after collapsing and dying while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kerala, India.

Led by his eminence Koserali Bhaisaheb, the community visited the gravesite where they delivered a message of condolence from their 53rd spiritual leader, His Holiness Dr Syedna Mufaddal, to the late Odinga’s wife, Dr Idah Odinga.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Huzeifa Hakimi highlighted the deep connection between the community and the Odinga family, a relationship that has spanned 30 years.

Hakimi praised Odinga’s contributions to national stability, expressing confidence that his legacy will continue to inspire national progress.

He noted that the Dawoodi Bohra community has called Kenya home for more than two hundred years and has benefited greatly from development projects initiated by the late Odinga over the past three decades.

“We have called Kenya home for over 200 years, and as Kenyans, we want to honor his legacy and contributions to peace, unity, and development in the country,” Hakimi stated.

He added, “We have a warm, cordial relationship with the Odinga family… we are here to condole with the family.”

The grave of the late Odinga has remained a highly visited site, drawing citizens, community groups, politicians from across the political divide, and foreign tourists who pay homage to the political veteran.
