Juju man, suspected thief and complainant arrested after using ‘juju’ to catch a thief

A burglary suspect surrendered to authorities yesterday under extraordinary circumstances.

The suspect, a man in his early 20s, was seen trekking through Kapsoya carrying a stolen television, a gas cylinder, and a woofer, all while being pursued by a thick swarm of bees.

The incident began on December 18, when Emmanuel Wafula reported a daytime break-in at his home.

According to police records, unknown intruders made off with electronics and a 6kg K-Gas cylinder, with a total value of approximately Sh30,000.

Seeking a swift resolution, Wafula enlisted the services of a local herbalist, Elizabeth Kashindi.

On the morning of December 19, Kashindi reportedly performed a ritual intended to flush out the culprit.

By noon, the “bee-led” suspect appeared in public, seemingly compelled to return the stolen items to the herbalist’s residence.

Officers from Kapsoya Police Station intervened to rescue the suspect from the swarm before handing him over to the Baharini Police Station.

Interestingly, the suspect has reportedly lost the ability to speak.

In an unusual legal twist, both the complainant, Wafula, and the herbalist, Kashindi, are currently being held at the station.

This is to allow the herbalist to perform a “resuscitation ritual,” which she claims is necessary to restore the suspect to normalcy, a process she says could take up to two days.

Baharini Police are currently handling the case, which remains one of the most talked-about incidents in the region this week.
