The homecoming of a woman from Saudi Arabia in Tindereti, Nyamira County took a dark and violent turn after a body of a man was discovered dumped.
On Friday, January 16, 2026, the body of Elijah Mogoi, 32, was discovered outside his house with severe injuries to his head and face.
The tragedy followed a month-long confrontation after the wife, who had been working in Saudi Arabia to fund their family’s development, returned home in December to find no projects had been started with the money she sent.
Investigators recovered blood-stained clothes hidden under a bed and a sharp knife believed to be the murder weapon.
The woman is currently in custody as a primary person of interest.
The other deaths that the police is piecing together over the weekend include;
Isiolo County; where residents discovered the body of Abbas Shariff. He had been shot through the ribs, but his motive and attackers remain unknown.
Tharaka Nithi; At Gatue village, a partially decomposed body was found dumped in a thicket on Saturday. Initial reports suggest the man was murdered elsewhere and his body moved to the site to conceal the crime.
Murang’a County: In a grim case of “mob justice,” a man was hacked to death in Karuri, Kigumo, after he was allegedly caught stealing bananas. One suspect has since been arrested in connection with the panga attack.
At the coast, a holiday ended in tragedy for a 73-year-old Swiss national, identified as Patrick Christian Claude.
Claude, who had checked into the country just a week earlier on January 10, collapsed while relaxing near a swimming pool in the Kilimandogo area on Saturday.
While there were no immediate signs of foul play, an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of his sudden collapse.
