National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has castigated the People Daily over its today’s headline, “Who stands to lose, gain from the ODM implosion as 2027 nears?”

In a cryptic tweet that garnered massive engagement, the Suna East lawmaker insisted that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) remains united and indivisible.

He characterized the ongoing internal debates as standard discourse within a democratic space.

“There’s only one indivisible ODM Party led by Party Leader Hon. Dr. Oburu Odinga. The ODM party is well structured with properly functioning party organs. The ODM Party allows robust internal debate on a wide range of issues, with each member allowed to hold and air their opinions, and persuade other members to adopt their positions,” read part of the tweet.

The lawmaker continued, “However, once the relevant party organs have settled on a position, the expectation of the party base is that we all fall in line. This is what loyalty, fidelity and faithfulness mean. There is no implosion and there will be none. The earlier this sinks in the mind of Gatundu newspaper owner, the better. Linda Ground. Despite these assurances, the lawmaker’s stance appears to be a total departure from the party’s recent public displays.

Over the weekend, the political outfit appeared bifurcated: one faction was led by Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, while another followed Winnie Odinga, daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
