Police rescue three-year-old boy from child trafficker

MALINDI: A three-year-old boy to his parents today after a daring cross-border rescue operation thwarted a suspected human trafficking attempt at the “eleventh hour.”

The nightmare began in the Malindi Central Area on the evening of February 13, 2026. The child’s mother, busy at work, realized around 6:00 PM that her son had vanished.

What she didn’t know then was that danger had been lurking in sight: forensic leads later revealed that a 29-year-old Ugandan national, Arnold Ethan, who operated a nail parlor right next to the parents’ shop, had allegedly lured the unsuspecting child away.

The abduction sparked an immediate, manhunt. The detectives from Malindi teamed up with their counterparts in Lunga Lunga.

While leveraging digital footprints and witness accounts, investigators tracked the suspect’s movement southward toward the Tanzanian border.

Kenyan detectives further coordinated with Tanzanian authorities to intercept the suspect at the Hororo border post.

Arnold Ethan was pounced upon just as he was allegedly attempting to sneak the child across the frontier.

The young boy, described by officers as visibly traumatized, was recovered and the suspect was placed in custody.

Both were escorted back to Malindi under tight security.
