Nyanza residents get chance to sample Coca-Cola’s new Charged energy drink

By MWALIMU ADINASI: Residents across the Nyanza region are getting an opportunity to sample Charged, Coca-Cola’s newly launched sparkling caffeinated beverage that is making its way into the Kenyan market.

The drink, which was introduced in Kenya last month, is currently being sampled in various parts of Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira counties as part of a nationwide consumer activation campaign.

Charged is Coca-Cola’s latest entry into the growing energy drinks market and comes in two flavours — Lemon Burst and Electric Pineapple. The beverage combines sparkling refreshment with caffeine to give consumers an energising boost during the day.

The Coca-Cola Company said the product was introduced in Kenya after successful launches in countries such as India, Nepal, Vietnam and South Africa.

Multiple choices for consumers
Speaking during the Kenyan launch last month, Coca-Cola Kenya Director of Frontline Marketing Monique Katana said the company was keen on offering consumers more beverage choices that match changing lifestyles and tastes.

“We are excited to introduce Charged to Kenya, offering consumers the fuel they need to maximise each day,” said Ms Katana.

“This launch highlights The Coca-Cola Company’s dedication to innovation and our mission to provide a diverse range of beverages that meet the evolving tastes and lifestyles of our consumers,” she added.

To support the launch, Coca-Cola Company and its authorised bottler, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa in Kenya, have rolled out activations across the country featuring music, entertainment and free product sampling.

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa in Kenya General Manager James Bowmaker said the new drink is designed to appeal to younger consumers looking for bold flavours and refreshment.

“Charged delivers bold new flavours designed to resonate with younger consumers, offering a refreshing way to fuel their day,” said Mr Bowmaker.

The drink’s packaging features a thunderbolt-inspired design aimed at reflecting the brand’s energetic identity and making it stand out on retail shelves.

Charged is currently available in 330ml bottles in supermarkets, shops and retail outlets across the country.
