Tusker FC could finally be putting an end to years of ground-hopping, with chairman Charles Gacheru confirming that the club is in advanced talks to make Kirigiti Stadium its official home ground for the upcoming 2026-2027 FKF Premier League season.

Speaking in a radio interview with Sporty FM, Gacheru said the Brewers are negotiating a partnership with Kirigiti’s management that would see the 16,000-capacity venue host all of Tusker’s home fixtures, with the club committing to support its upkeep in return.

The move comes after a difficult stretch for the 12-time league champions, who spent last season shuttling between grounds in Murang’a, Embu and Nairobi in search of a suitable venue, a situation Gacheru says has taken a toll on the club’s stability and its relationship with fans.

“We will have our own stadium. We are going into partnership with Kirigiti to make it our home stadium. We will help in maintenance and such,” Gacheru said.

Ruaraka Grounds for training

It’s not just about competitive fixtures, though. Gacheru also confirmed that Tusker are moving ahead with plans to renovate Ruaraka Grounds, long regarded as the club’s spiritual home, with funding for the project already secured.

Rather than reviving it as a matchday venue, however, the club intends to repurpose Ruaraka strictly as a training base once renovations are complete.

“We are planning to upgrade Ruaraka Grounds with the budget having already been allocated.

It will, however, largely be used for our training ground and not matches,” he explained.

For Gacheru, settling into a permanent home isn’t just a logistical fix, it’s central to the club’s broader ambitions of rebuilding a loyal fan base.

He pointed to the likes of Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Shabana as the benchmark Tusker hopes to eventually match in terms of supporter numbers and matchday atmosphere.

“We are determined to grow our fan base, which is something we really want to engage in to match Shabana, Gor, AFC and Migori Youth,” he said.

If the Kirigiti partnership goes through, it would mark a significant turning point for a club that has long struggled with stadium instability, giving Tusker not just a fixed address, but a genuine opportunity to rebuild its identity both on and off the pitch.
